The best celebrity gossip site in the world.

We get far more excited about this than makes any logical sense

It's official! The Spice Girls are currently rehearsing in London for their performance at the Olympic closing ceremony.  A ceremony which, even if everyone just plays the radio edit of their greatest hit, is going to be quite long if all the other rumoured and confirmed appearances happen. Maybe they’re all just getting together at the end to sing Do They Know It’s Christmas? or Free Nelson Mandela or something. That’d be nice.

No cryptic post-it notes from @gerihalliwell yet, but she did write: "What a lovely day.... I'm smiling.....eeeeee". And Vicky has just tweeted this pic of her spangly microphone.

That's got to hurt the lips. Probably a good job she doesn't have to... you can finish that joke yourselves.
Anyway, Spice Girls. Yes. We know we shouldn’t care. They’ve already reformed once.
But when they did reform they were frigging amazing. So much so that we ended up buying some tickets off eBay so we could see the show again (we still went for a piss break during Mel B’s bizarre S&M solo bit though).
And even the recent press conference to launch their probably awful musical was brilliant, on account of the fact that no groups dick about quite like the Spices. The music may not have aged terribly well, but the dicking about is still a breath of fresh air in an overly media-conscious, boring-people-filled pop world.
They have to play Spice Up Your Life, right? What with its inexplicable references to multi-culturalism (what was that yellow man doing in Timbuktu, anyway?). Maybe Geri can finally right her Thatcher-based wrong and declare that Emmeline Pankhurst was the first Spice Girl. Or maybe not.
For some reason this news seems to have been greeted with far more jubilation on Twitter than the story about Ed Sheeran guesting with Pink Floyd at the same event. Can’t think why.

  1. Ha ha... I was just surfing around and took a look at these reviews. I can't believe there's still this much fascination. Thanks for writing about this.
